Fairy Garden Planner

Use this fairy garden planner to estimate a realistic supply list and starter budget for a container, patio, balcony, or backyard fairy garden.

This is a planning estimate, not a rule. Scale the accessories up or down based on container size, plant choices, and whether the garden sits indoors or outdoors.

What to include in a starter fairy garden

Base layer

Use a planter, bowl, tray, raised bed corner, or terrarium container. Add soil, drainage, moss, gravel, or mulch depending on whether it is live-planted or decorative.

Mini scene pieces

Pick one main feature such as a cottage, door, bridge, bench, mushroom set, tiny path, or miniature fence. Too many focal pieces can make the garden feel cluttered.

Lighting

For outdoor builds, use solar fairy lights or outdoor-rated mini lights. For indoor displays, battery fairy lights usually keep the setup cleaner.

Before you buy

Check scale before mixing pieces from different sets. A tiny door, oversized mushroom, and miniature bench can look awkward if they are not close to the same scale. For outdoor gardens, prioritize weather-resistant pieces and avoid materials that fade or swell quickly.
